Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny
Synopsis
Archaeologist Indiana Jones races against time to retrieve a legendary artifact that can change the course of history.
Our Review
The fifth and final Indiana Jones film gives Harrison Ford a proper sendoff. While not reaching the heights of the original trilogy, it's a satisfying coda to one of cinema's great adventure franchises.
Farewell to Legend
At 80, Ford still has presence, even if the action is necessarily diminished. The de-aging technology in the opening sequence is impressive, allowing the film to span from 1944 to 1969. Phoebe Waller-Bridge brings welcome energy as his goddaughter Helena.
The film's emotional core - Indy as an aging man whose world has moved on - resonates more than the treasure hunt plot. John Williams' score, potentially his final for the franchise, provides nostalgic weight.
Verdict
A bit long and occasionally uneven, but Ford's final ride in the fedora is affectionate enough to forgive its flaws. A fitting farewell.
